Important: You only have a couple of weeks to renew your AHPRA registration and the renewal process has changed!

There are some important changes to your renewal with Ahpra this year, and we ask that you read this information carefully. Ahpra have recently set up a new online portal including multi-factor authentication for extra security. All 2025 renewals will need to be completed in this new online portal. 


We recommend that you set up your Ahpra portal early, and then you can renew and pay later. Hot tips for this year’s renewal:

Have your Ahpra username and password ready (check last year’s renewal reminder)

Use two devices:

  • Laptop or desktop computer to complete your renewal - the renewal form is designed for a larger screen

  • Mobile phone for multifactor authentication - you will need it every time you log in to your Ahpra portal

  1. Download the Google Authenticator App on your Smartphone.

  2. Follow all the steps in order on the Ahpra portal help centre page to set up your portal.

Join us for the May Day March and Street Parade!

Saturday 24 May 2025  11:30am - Hobart

March and Street Parade

Unions Tasmania invites members, supporters, and their families to celebrate May Day at their annual parade, which will be held on Saturday 24 May this year (a little later than usual due to the Federal Election being held on the first weekend in May).
Everyone is welcome to gather at the usual location behind the CPSU in Victoria Street before marching around the Hobart CBD with union pride on full display.

We will marshal from 11:30am, with the march kicking off at 12 noon sharp, returning to Victoria Street where there will be a free BBQ, drinks for purchase, ice creams, coffee, and plenty of fun activities for the kids. This is a free event, and Unions Tasmania would love to celebrate it with their union family. It is, after all, Union Christmas! See you there!

ANMF members are invited to join ANMF staff members and attend the March and Street Parade together. We will meet at the ANMF offices (182 Macquarie St) at 11:10am to collect flags and ANMF T-Shirts. We will then walk down to the meeting spot in Victoria Street together arriving at 11:30am.




ANMF Workplace Delegates' Back to Basics Beginner Training: South and North /North West Sessions

Are you a recently nominated workplace delegate? Then you are warmly invited to the face-to-face workshop especially designed to inform you about your rights as a delegate, where you can go to get advice, as well as learn about the ANMF Union and the strategic goals we are collectively working towards. ANMF Employment Opportunity: Organiser (South)

The ANMF Tasmanian Branch is seeking a part-time Organiser (South) to provide industrial and professional support to members across the Hobart region. This three-month role involves workplace visits, member advocacy, and supporting union activities. Applicants must hold a current nursing or midwifery qualification, have strong communication and organisational skills, and a commitment to union values. Are you celebrating a birthday in June 2025? Keep an eye on email inbox, you will receive an email from the ANMF Tasmanian Branch during the first week of June. 

All members celebrating their birthday during June automatically go into the draw and can receive a bonus entry by filling in a short survey. The winner will be randomly drawn on the second Monday of the month and notified directly. Good luck and a very happy birthday to all our members!



That’s a Wrap for the 2025 ANMF/HERC Aged Care Conference 

This year's Aged Care Conference was an incredible day of learning, inspiration, and connection. Our amazing line-up of presenters truly delivered - engaging everyone with relevant content and heartfelt insights. Centred around the theme ‘A Journey of Compassion and Collaboration’, each session offered something to take back into our workplaces—tools, stories, and strategies to help us grow and support those in our care. May Day 2025 – Toast, Parade, and Union Awards 

This year’s May Day Toast will be held on Friday the 23 May (including the Union Awards), and the Parade on Saturday 24 of May. May Day Toast 2025 tickets are $70 + GST and the event will be held at Hobart Town Hall. Join Unions Tasmania and the ANMF for a night of solidarity, entertainment, delicious food, and drinks, as the Tasmanian Union Awards are presented.

Awards Nominate Today

2025 ANDREW BRAKEY AWARD NOMINATIONS OPEN


The ANMF invites applications and nominations for the annual ANMF Andrew Brakey Awards.
The ceremony for the awards will be held on Thursday evening 26 June 2025 at the Hotel Grand Chancellor Launceston. These awards have been designed for the nursing and midwifery teams in public, private, and aged care sectors in Tasmania with the purpose of recognising outstanding achievement and investing in future learning and career growth. If you or someone you know may be eligible, we encourage you to apply or nominate today. Finalists will be honoured at the Andrew Brakey 2025 Awards night held on Thursday 26 June 2025, with three winners being announced on the evening and receiving $2,000 each towards their careers in healthcare. Registrations for the Dinner and Awards Night are now open. Nominations close Friday 30 May, 2025.
